PFLAG Houston is dedicated to supporting families by keeping them in loving relationships. Confidential small group discussions, “the heart of PFLAG”, are led by a trained facilitator. Group members are encouraged to share stories regarding their loved ones, thereby creating an atmosphere of understanding and support. A small group is dedicated exclusively to transgender issues. This group is open to all attendees, and transgender people are always welcome to attend any of the other small group discussions. PFLAG Houston also maintains a confidential voice mail helpline staffed by caring PFLAG parents who take turns returning phone calls. Helpful information is readily available, and minors calling the Helpline or attending meetings are encouraged to contact HATCH (the Houston Area Teen Coalition of Homosexuals) or contact their school counselors.
