Dr. Jill Carroll, Executive Director of the Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance, gave this presentation at the October 2008 PFLAG Meeting (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). She speaks about her personal experiences, religion and tolerance and relationships.
A Journey to Joy
Billie Willmon Jenkin, a PFLAG mother and author, speaks about learning that her son is gay. I am so thankful that I have a gay son. I would not change him in any way even if I could, Billie now laughs. I now believe with all my heart that his sexual orientation was a gift from Spirit. My purpose is empowering others to recognize the significance of their lives and to find peace in the midst of what is. The common thread of our religions is love not hate.
